About Grant

Grant’s BIO

I am a Canadian triathlete and duathlete who currently live in Calgary, Alberta. As a young boy, growing up on a farm, I was very active and participated in many sports including soccer, basketball, volleyball and tumbling. In 2001 I did my first triathlon at the recommendation of my track coach. My first triathlon was the kids of steel race at Elbow Valley. After the race I was hooked. After attending four world Championships in triathlon and duathlon as a Jr and Elite, I decided to make the switch from ITU to long course triathlon. I’ve always felt my strengths have been longer distances with less violent accelerations and I am very much enjoying racing the half ironman distance. Every year I learn more about myself as an athlete, person and coach. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to do what I do for a living.

After I graduated from the University of Calgary in 2009, I started coaching at the Talisman Centre. Since then, I have moved into a head coach role and seen the club grow from 50 athletes to over 120 members. I absolutely love sharing my passion with others and helping them achieve their goals. At the Talisman, I coach athletes from all backgrounds and all different athletic levels.

  3. Hey Grant. I stumbled upon your blog while checking out Ryan Faas’ music blog. I should have known you would both have links to another keys player. Great to see what you are up to. It has been a lot of years since I have seen you last at Camp K.

Congrats on your placings. It is very apparent to me that you have a love for the sport and the mental strength to make your body work through the pain.

Glad to hear your dad is doing well after surgery. He and you will be in my prayers this week.

Thanks for posting and giving me a little insight into your life all these years later.
